So I’m going to admit defeat, or rather a change of heart. The Canon Rebel XS just wasn’t the camera for me, after many hours of experimentation I wasn’t pleased with style of photography it offered. I suppose after all these years of using a point and click I’ve become a lot more accustomed to  smaller more user friendly cameras.  I’m a busy person and fitting creative time into my already overloaded schedule isn’t always easy. I need a camera that is hand held and easy to snap a quick photo. I returned my Canon Rebel today and Replaced it with the Canon G12. This camera is exactly what I was looking for, think of a cross breed between SLR and Point and shoot. It’s like my Canon Elph on steroids. Swivel view finder, manual features, and a great macro. I will see how it handles plant photos this Thursday when I do the greenhouse’s availability.

In a moment of frustration I contacted my uncle for advice on such topics. He has always been a wealth of knowledge when it comes to anything to do with computers or cameras. Although supportive of Digital SLR’s he wrote out their short comings in a way that made sense to me. He also told me to follow my instincts, if I didn’t feel comfortable using my new camera then it might turn into an expensive paper weight. In the end his advice really helped and I’m grateful for having such knowledgeable people in my life. My uncle mentored me many years back on how to design websites, and he was a real pro. Now a days he’s creating worlds in virtual reality, making suns rise and fall, setting ocean currents, it’s really intersting.
