Exotic Gardening with Rare and Strange Plants

The weather has been ridiculous lately. Snow last week, gale force winds yesterday and today blissful sunshine until the afternoon sleet began. I digress. Today I did the weekly availability walk around, and let me tell you, it’s always sunny in a heated greenhouse.

I’m amazed by how busy things are getting, and how many flowers are developing, spring is on it’s way. There were a lot of nice photos to be taken and a lot of blooms to be appreciated. My job can be a bit of a sensory overload, sometimes I just gaze out and sigh at the beauty. While I snapped quite a lot of photos today I thought it best to start off with the erysimums that are in bloom. These perennial wallflowers have long blooming periods and start along side hellebores and spring bulbs.

Although the majority of wallflowers sold are perennial seek out the better quality hybrids for larger, more impressive plants. The 6 pack varieties are often short lived and won’t perform at the same level as these beautys. Buy 1 good one instead of 10 cheap ones, you won’t be disapointed. Erysimums are good plants for beginners as they are easy to grow, require little care and give a lot of bang for your buck.

Hi, I stopped in because another blogger who faved your blog, I think, told me to check out your blog. And told me I would not be disappointed. I was here before, but I took the time to look around this time. I was an artist in a previous life and believe as you do, that nature it the ultimate artist and architect. Your photos are quite nice and your art creative and colorful. I have enjoyed the visit and just wanted to let you know.
